Driver
Even though we can use the keyboard without installing any software, you will want to install the Tt eSPORTS suite to get the most out of it.Unfortunately, Windows 10 actually flagged the software as a virus on our first attempt, which I hope Thermaltake resolves soon. Some people might be put off by this and will simply not install it. I, however, disabled Windows defender and allowed it to install.
As soon as I started, the software recognized that my firmware was out of date and asked me to update it.
Accepting the request, I was taken to this screen, which downloaded and updated my firmware quickly and easily.
Once it had finished, I was taken to this screen, the home screen. It allows you to change profiles, set up your color schemes, assign keys, and more.
Recording a macro is very simple and actually gives us a lot of options as we can set delays, use multiple keys, and set mouse buttons to keystrokes easily. When in Game mode, each key can be reassigned to carry out another function than in Normal mode.
The other main use of the software is to create our own unique color schemes for the Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z RGB as each key is able to be individually set to a color of your choice. I had some fun and created the following lighting scheme:
Once I applied the colors, the keyboard looked like this! As you can see, all the colors match those on the diagram, and as I forgot to do the space bar, it is completely dark.
My favorite setting out of these, however, is this wave effect, Ok, this .gif doesn't really do it justice, but it gives you an idea; it is so pretty!
Performance
Kailh switches have been gaining popularity lately and for good reason as they are far cheaper than some of their counterparts, such as Cherry or Gateron, which you might clue in on if you switch between switches often. As long as companies pass such savings on to the customer, these switches are a very good compromise. Typing on Kailh Blues feels great as there is good tactile feedback and their actuation point is well positioned. I can feel a difference compared to Cherry MX Blues, but it is minimal. Once I had used the Tt eSPORTS Poseidon Z RGB for some time, my typing speed improved, and I was able to comfortable type up this review. The LEDs are bright and work well, with many features that can actually help users with some of their functions. The LEDs react to your touch, allowing you to visually see which key is being pressed, for instance. While this function isn't of much use to me as I touch-type, I can certainly understand its appeal. Most of the other functions are more of a novelty, but they are certainly fun to use and look very nice.
[review] My own personal review of the Poseidon Z RGB [Kailh Blue RGB Switches]
I have only had this keyboard for a couple of days, but I'm writing this review now for reasons that will be explained.
Preface: I have two mechs already: a Ducky Zero in MX Blue and a Quickfire Rapid in MX Brown. Ever since the RGB craze, I have had my eye out for a MX Blue RGB, but they have turned into the Waldo of mech's for me.
This is just my personal opinion of this keyboard.
I got the keyboard at my local Best Buy for the nice price of $120. When I was in there, an associate was nice enough to let me open and feel the keyboard real fast so I could compare to my usual MX blue and the few minutes I played with it, it felt pretty close. I decided to buy it since the return policy is pretty good and I have been using it for 3 days now.
The Good:
RGB is nice and bright.
The RGB lighting is super bright, but not blinding. I feel like the lights they chose and the backplate they're using are working together to create some fantastic color.
Case build/feel
The case and overall feel of everything seems pretty good. I feel like I can accidentally drop it or take it with me and not have to worry about bubble-wrapping it every time.
The Okay:
Software is pretty easy to get a grip of
I had tried a Corsair K65 RGB with reds, and on top of me not really liking the linear switches, the software was horrendous. The software to control the lighting and profiles of the Poseidon is pretty easy to follow and understand. Only downside is when applying a new profile the keyboard has to reboot EVERY TIME. So if you want to play with how certain lights/colors look, you're going to be waiting 15-30 seconds every time for the keyboard to reboot.
Weight
This is important to me as I bring my keyboards with me to work/friends houses. The weight of this one is alright, with it leaning a bit more to the heavy side of something I'd like to carry around. Somewhat to be expected for a full-size, but it isn't back-breaking.
The Bad:
The switches

I have been on MX Blue switches for a couple years now with Browns in there as well, so that's my big basis of comparison. The Kailh blue switches are...frustrating to me. They feel a lot heavier sometimes. It's hard to explain but I'll be typing and I feel like I'm back on a membrane keyboard with the pressure difference that happens sometimes between keys. A few of them feel squishy without much click, and a few have a nice click and tactility to them. Some are really easy to press, and others feel way harder to press. I put other keycaps on them to see if that was possibly having an effect and it was different, but not much better. A couple of the switches have a grainy feel to them as well, as someone took the keyboard to the beach before they boxed it.
I took a chance on Kailh switches, and with this experience, they are very underwhelming to me. I feel like they would be good for an entry level board, at a much lower price point. I think TTe has a $60~70 keyboard with these switches, which is an alright price. I would recommend spending the extra money to get a true Cherry MX board.

Summary:
I don't like it. I don't think I'll be hanging onto it and I will probably be returning it in the next few days. The switches are bad to me, and I don't think I'll ever get a Kailh switch board again. It's nice to see more entires in the RGB category, but I just do not like this one.
If you have any questions, I'll answer what I can.
